On Wednesday, Huawei sub-brand “Honor” launched the Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max, featuring glass-finish back panel and have dual rear camera setup.
Honor has provided artificial intelligence (AI) powered features on the Honor 8X and 8X Max to deliver enhanced image results. The handsets also include features such as AR stickers, Portrait mode, HDR, and Super Night Scene among others. The smartphones also have thin-bezel displays. While the Honor 8X features an iPhone X-like display notch, the Honor 8X Max sports a waterdrop notch. The smartphones have displays with 18.7:9 and 19.5:9 aspect ratios and include Dolby Atmos surround sound backed by stereo speakers. Further, there is a TUV Rheinland-certified blue light protection.

The Honor 8X has 64GB and 128GB of onboard storage options that both are expandable via microSD card. The smartphone has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an ambient light sensor, compass, fingerprint sensor, gravity sensor, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. Besides, the handset packs a 3,750mAh battery and measures 160.4×76.6×7.8mm.
The Honor 8X price in China has been set at CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 14,700) for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant, while its 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 16,800) and the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant comes at CNY 1,899 (roughly Rs. 20,000). The handset will be available through Vmall, Tmall, Suning, and Jingdong. Pre-orders for all the three Honor 8X variants will begin on September 6, and sales will commence September 11.

It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM. The smartphone has a dual rear camera setup that has a 16-megapixel primary sensor along with a f/2.0 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor along with a f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel sensor along with a f/2.0 aperture. The dual-SIM (Nano) Honor 8X Max, on the other hand, runs EMUI 8.2.0 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo and features a 7.12-inch full-HD+ (1080×2244 pixels) TFT IPS display along with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 72 percent NTSC color gamut, and 350ppi pixel density.
The Honor 8X Max has 64GB and 128GB storage options that both are expandable via microSD card. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB. Besides, the smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery and measures 177.57×86.24×8.13mm. Onboard sensors include an ambient light, compass, gravity sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor.
The Honor 8X Max, comes with a price tag of CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 15,700) for the 64GB storage variant, while its 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 19,000). Both variants will go on sale in the country through Vmall, Tmall, Sunning, and Jingdong. The smartphone will be available for purchase starting September 6.
