Apple Disallows Third-Party Repair Chances on New Mac Devices

The diagnostic suite of Apple is limited to internal use by the authorized service and Apple Stores and independent repair stores that run without Apple certification and are likely to not be able to repair some components of the iMac Pro and 2018 Mac Book Pro.

The 2018 models of the Apple devices such as the MacBook Pro and iMac come with blocked possibilities of third part repairs. In order to go through repairs, the devices need to go through Apple’s diagnostics for repairs to be completed. As per media reports, the results of not running Apple diagnostics can result in the malfunction of the device.

The third-party repair lock on Mac devices applies on display, logic board, Touch ID, keyboard, battery, trackpad, and speakers installed on all 2018 models of iMac Pro and Mac Book Pro. Since the Apple’s diagnostic has been released it has put Mac book owners into a state of fury.

Howbeit, the site is limited to internal use by Apple Store and Authorized Service Stations of the consumer electronics manufacturer. Independent repair shops who do not have any certification.

The blocking of third-party repairs on Apple Devices is a result of the “T2 Chip” which is installed in all the 2018 models of the Mac Books. The chip is integrated into the image signal processor, audio controller, and solid-state drive (SSD) controller and system management controller.
