Since after the official announcement of the name of Android P – Android 9.0 Pie in the month of August, Google has also started rolling it out to smartphones.
New OS version has till now reached only a few of the smartphone models, which were in the Android P beta program, it has not yet made a debut in the August 2018 Android distribution list, which breaks down how many percentages of users are on which Android version.
Google, had clearly announced for all the Android iterations, which runs on less than 0.1% of all the Android smartphones are not mentioned in the list. And the absence of Android 9.0 Pie from the chart speaks for itself. Talking about other older Android versions, Android Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread still exist in the list with 0.3% each, v6.0 Marshmallow was at 22.7% while Android Lollipop (version 5.0 and 5.1) together were at 19.2% smartphones. Android KitKat v4.4 was on 8.6% smartphones and Android Jelly Bean together captured 3.5%.
The list included Sony Xperia XZ2, Essential Phone, Nokia 7 Plus, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21 and the upcoming OnePlus 6. These will the first to get the final OS version. Let’s see if Android 9.0 Pie shows up in the next month’s list or not. The latest number comes as a result of a 7-day period ending on August 31, 2018. This year Google announced that some other non-Pixel smartphones will come as a part of Android P beta program.
According to the list, Android Nougat stays on top of the list with the majority of the percentage followed by others. Android 7.0 (20.3%) and 7.1 (10.5%) Nougat together were at 30.8%. Android Oreo which came out last year was at 14.6%. While the OS version 8.0 was at 11.4%, the v8.1 was at 3.2% of all the Android smartphones.
